Posted : 1 month, 3 weeks ago at Oct 11 11:44 - ummm.... hang on a sec...In here there HAS to be one someone doesn't know, unless there like me and don't have a selective taste(they like almost any music)strange bands I think some might not know, mainly cuz they went out of 'style' a while ago, or they aren't well known, or they are old as hhell, 311, Eurythmics, Alice in Chains, Apocalyptica, (A few months ago I would have said Atreyu, Ten Years or A7X, but they are growing like wildfire), Beck, Billy Squire, Bush, Fuel, Oasis, Blur, Toby Mac, Cake, Butthole Surfers, Collective Soul, Daft Punk, Eiffel 65, Everclear, Flobots, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Jimmy Eat World, Jane's Addiction, Lemon Demon, Lit, Live, Men At Work, Pearl Jam, REM, Safety Suit, Ludo, Skillet, Snow, Stone Temple Pilots, SoundGarden, B-52s, Raconteurs, King Harvest, Teriyaki Boyz, If you by some chance know at least a song by everyone of these bands then Dayamn, although King Harvest and Eiffel 65 may be a little difficult, unless you were around back then or came across them one morning :P |

Posted : 1 month, 3 weeks ago at Oct 13 23:49 - There's a Canadian band known as Moxy Fruvous that's quite overlooked. They did a number of fantastic songs. I recommend Darlington Darling if you want an introduction to the band. |

Posted : 1 month, 3 weeks ago at Oct 14 1:38 - This is quite odd topic. Here is some bands I'm currently listening: http://www.last.fm/user/nimimerkillinen/charts?rangetype=overall&subtype=artists Most of people haven't heard most of those bands. Atleast most of people I've met don't know even 10% of the bands so I guess they are pretty unknown in Finland but what can be unknown here can be very known in USA for example. I would rate band unknown if you can't find it in http://rateyourmusic.com nor www.last.fm |

Posted : 1 month, 3 weeks ago at Oct 14 7:22 - eiffel 65 is an awesome techno band ???? thanks for the laugh this morning, william.. lol.. made me squirt coffee out my nose! and in terms of best unknown band, I'd have to go with Audio Bullys. That's right, you haven't heard of them. It's ok. But you should. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBUk6higtHE |

Posted : 1 month, 3 weeks ago at Oct 14 10:00 - I dont discriminate against William. If anyone else dared to call that crappy Italo Pop group as being 'awesome techno band', it'd mock them too. Just because a synthesizer is used by a group, doesnt mean its Techno. And its an insult to the true Detroit Techno scene to call Eiffel 65 a techno band. |

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 16 18:00 - Full Scale - australian band. They made lots of fans in fresno, CA.Wolfmother - another aussie band Pantera - I'm still surprised they aren't as well known Pennywise - super indie rock MxPx - all these years and I still don't know what to make of this band Social Distortion The Hellacopters Dick Dale - surf rock Henry Rollins Band the Misfits Megadeth - metallica's main rivals Motorhed - southern metal? The Cranberries - quite popular in the mid 90's Sixpence none the Richer Lacuna Coil - kickass lead singer The Donnas - the first all girl band that I thought rocked Kittie - ahead of their time? probably. it was like an all girl visual kei band PJ Harvey No Doubt - Gwen's hot and all, but I liked her better when she was with a real band The Distillers - punk rock atypical female vocalist=rock!! Blondie - early 80's synth pop/rock band. they killed it, yo. Kings of Leon - They're going with a cleanshaven look now. looked and sounded better with beards Pearl Jam - haven't stopped playing shows big and small since the early 90's, possibly late 80's. Speakers for the dead - old local area band, just before going big one gets picked off by cancer. not sure if they're still together or not. Six Ounce Gloves - good local area band. constantly tours all over creation. Go see them if they're in your area Fiona Apple - damn she was hot! If we're including bands that were semi popular in the last two decades but have been forgotten in time.... Oh and yes, Eiffel 65 is trash. |

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 16 18:26 - This thread ought to be renamed "Well-known Shit Bands". Makes me violently ill. |
WilliamRank : 575 |
Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 16 18:28 - oh... hell... no. this is what i hate about this site, stupid stuck up asses like you always got to start a fight over the stupidest stuff. why can't you people just leave your comments to yourself, or at least IM me so that we can argue in private. |
WilliamRank : 575 |
Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 16 18:29 - hey 3501, if you know so much, what bands to you know. that haven't been named there, that you think no one has really heard of? |
350125g0Rank : 88 |
Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 16 18:31 - No argument here - stating a simple fact. And yes, I am "stuck up" when it comes to music. No argument there either. In fact, I wouldn't have it any other way. ;)Edit: To put it simply, I'm far too pretentious to share my musical taste with you. Continue on with your Eiffel-whatever and I'll stick to my vast arsenal of (actually good) auditory pleasure, thank you. |

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 16 18:34 - well then, keep your comments to your self, a lot of these bands were around in the seventies and back on, and not a lot of peole know about them. besides, you are nowhere near as stuck up as me at music, tell me somthing. do you listen to any rap at all? |

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 17 7:28 - No matter how unknown you think the band you like is, someone here has quite likely heard of them. Thats an unavoidable fact when you have a membership ranging over many decades and various countries. Sorry. Remember that members who are older than yourself will have had a wider and longer exposure to different music and thus probably already have experienced wonder that is finding "old and unknown" bands and thinking that no one else knows who the heck they are. But the internet is not school, it is not the social group you hang out with in real life. As a collective theres more information out there than we can each deal with and no matter what you say there will usually be someone out there who will be able to say "no" and conflict how you've said something. When you say "not a lot of people know about them" its obviously going to mean something different to another user as we then tend to think about our own, different, social circles and what we listen to there. Just because you think the Eurythmics went out of style doesn't mean everyone everywhere just stopped listening. Personally I go to club nights where most of this stuff is on regular set lists (and yes, even on the radio). When asking people about finding new music I tend to stick to a certain genre and fill it out from there. But mostly I, like 350125g0, tend to stick to what I like or explore the new options for myself so that I'm sure I'm finding something I really like. Its just a matter of preference. |

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 17 8:16 - Well said, Tartan. :)I will say though, anyone who's contributed to this thread: come back in about five years - hell, even two - and then let's see what you have to say. Putting my pessimism aside, your musical tastes will have varied greatly, surely. I know that in a few years time mine will be even broader and encompass more music that I still don't know about. That's how it works. I won't pretend that I know everything about obscure music, because I certainly don't, but I'll sure as hell stick up for the fact that I know a lot more than the Average Joe (thank goodness!). |

Its that one-hit-wonder that had that really REALLY annoying song way back, 'da ba dee, da ba die' repeated over and over... people used to try to guess what they were saying, and general consensus was 'I'm in need of a guy', or 'if i were green i would die', or maybe the idiots really did just sing 'da be dee, da ba die' for 5 minutes straight. It ranks up there with 'Crazy Frog' on the annoyometer. |

Posted : 1 month, 2 weeks ago at Oct 17 8:57 - lolit's been stuck in mine for past few days thanks to this thread... ugh.. May I suggest some 'Smack My Bitch Up' by The Prodigy, another VERY catchy tune, but not annoying? it may smack that 'blue' song outta your head. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ-Uzs-l0A8 |
